Pulled Pork Sliders, Truffle Fries & More at Slider Nation's New Location

Sliders are one of Beijing’s hottest things right now, with a number of restaurants churning out the little burgers or renaming a few menu items – e.g. changing “mini-burger” to “slider” – to keep up with the trend. But there’s only one place to get the original in the capital, and that place is Slider Nation.

Having reached the final rounds in the Burger Cup after their Cinderella story defeat of 2020 champs Side Street in last year's Sweet 16, it’s no wonder why Slider Nation is in the Top 5 in our Burger Cup rankings: Slider Nation’s burgers feature Wagyu patties steamed with onions and topped with cheese, pickles, and an addictive special sauce that’s sandwiched between Hawaiian bread buns, making for a concoction that’s hard to put down.

But the restaurant is exploring new realms in the world of small hamburgers, and all from a new location to boot.

And an interesting location it is, inside a hot pot restaurant repurposed as a sort of foodie paradise, smack dab between Liangmaqiao and Sanyuanqiao, right off Xinyuanlu behind the Gateway building, and a hop, skip and a jump away from the old Eat Street, where the original Home Plate BBQ is located.

To get there, find a mock commemorative arch done up in scarlet red and emblazoned with the characters 口福居 Kǒufújū. From there, look for a sign that reads 食九局美食广场 Shíjiǔjú Měishí Guǎngchǎng and head up the elevator to the 3rd floor. Turn left and you’ll immediately see Slider.

Here you’ll find its business as usual for Henry and team, who moved to the new location a month ago, slinging their original classic single and double sliders and duck fat fries, but with some new additions as well. These include turkey sliders, featuring sliced turkey, cranberry sauce and other fixings, like a post-Thanksgiving meal, and pulled pork sliders.

The latter could give the OG sliders a run for their money any day. On the same Hawaiian roll sits pulled pork that’s been cooked slow and low with the bone in for 13 hours straight, coated in homemade black cherry BBQ sauce, grilled coleslaw, and pickles.

To accompany these morsels of barbecued delight come BBQ seasoning-coated fries – basically their duck fat fries but with more savory spice. Or, should you want something a little mellower, there’s their truffle seasoned fries, which, when dipped in Slider Nation’s signature garlic aioli sauce, are out of this world.

The OG sliders have also gotten an upgrade in the form of a spicy option, featuring the addition of yellow habanero sauce and with the pickles swapped out for jalapeño pieces. The habaneros pack a good spicy punch, and are best washed down with Slider Nation's Jack & Coke slushee – featuring nearly three shots of Jack Daniels blended with Coca-Cola.

The pulled pork sliders are currently available for dine-in only, but they alone are well worth a trip up to the area. We’ll be back for more in the near future, and we’re sure these sliders will sway more diners and voters to the cult of slider when the 2022 Burger Fest comes around.
