The Local Launches New Menu Adding Ten Varieties of Mac and Cheese
Cheese lovers rejoice! The Local recently launched a whole new menu and have added ten variations of Mac and Cheese to the menu. The Local’s original mac and cheese was already a firm favorite among customers, but now they’ve taken this cheesey comfort food to the next level!
Alongside the Classic Mac (RMB 50) they have a whole range of meat and vegetarian twists to excite your taste buds. For meat eaters some interesting takes are a Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese (RMB 70) that sees a cayenne pepper sauce combined with Danish blue cheese or, if pork is more your thing a Truffle Pig Mac (RMB 70) that has pernil roast pork, bacon mushrooms, truffle oil, rosemary and sharp cheese.
In the vegetarian department they’ve created a Caprese Mac (RMB 65) which adds the ingredients of a caprese salad: mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar to a mac and cheese or the Cheddar Broccoli Mac (RMB 60) which is like a hybrid between mac and cheese and broccoli cheese. On why they've decided to go big with the mac and cheese options, The Local owner Kenn told me "Aside from leaning into our American roots, one reason is that Macaroni and Cheese is one of the most frequently ordered dishes at The Local (both in house and for delivery), so we thought it would be fun to offer some variations. Another reason is that mac & cheese is a quintessential comfort food, and we think post-2020 everyone could use a little comfort food."
Along with their new range of mac and cheeses they’ve also brought in a brand-new weekly deal!
The Local now has Mac & Cheese Mondays where all mac and cheese are half price with any drink purchase. Some of their other weekly deals have had a shake up with Tuesdays now being buy one get one free burgers and craft beer.
However, wings lovers can relax as Wings Wednesday is still running, along with their spectacular Fish Friday deal.
Aside from the mac and cheese additions to the menu, there have also been a few other shakeups. They still have all their signature Smash and Pub Burgers, along with their extensive range of pizzas.
However, some dishes such as most of their Tex-Mex cuisine, sandwiches and wraps are no longer being available. Kenn has said that these may make a reappearance on lunch menus or daily specials but currently aren’t on the standard menu.
Not going to lie, I am a little bit gutted about the disappearance of their Tuna Melt, so here’s hoping it comes back on a lunch menu!
