Beijing unveils blueprint for post-disaster recovery: In the aftermath of devastating floods caused by Typhoon Doksuri, Beijing plans a comprehensive post-disaster reconstruction, aiming for basic recovery in a year, reports China Daily. The floods, the worst in 140 years, affected nearly 1.29 million people and caused extensive economic loss, especially in Beijing's mountainous Fangshan and Mentougou districts.

The city's executive vice-mayor, Xia Linmao, confirmed 33 deaths, including five rescuers, and 18 missing. The floods also triggered 369 geological disasters, collapsed 59,000 houses, and damaged another 147,000.

The recovery phase will include repairing water management facilities and damaged houses in urban and rural areas. The long-term plan focuses on optimizing affected areas' functional layout and improving infrastructure and services.

Special exhibition on 2008 Beijing Olympics opens in National Stadium：In celebration of 15 years since the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, an exhibition has been unveiled at the National Stadium, aka the Bird's Nest. Curated by the non-profit Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA), the exhibition offers a rich montage of images, narratives, multimedia presentations, and relics, reports China Daily.

The exhibition showcases the personal journeys of 15 individuals linked to Beijing 2008, including basketball icon Yao Ming, who not only represented China in the Games but also led the nation's delegation in the Opening Ceremony.

The display also shines a spotlight on musicians Chang Shilei and Wang Pingjiu, artist Yuan Xikun, photographer Zhao Yingxin, and fireworks maestro Cai Canhuang. This retrospective takes visitors on a journey back to the memorable summer of 2008, emphasising the enduring legacy of the Olympics in Beijing.

Beijing Daxing International Airport sees record passenger numbers: Beijing Daxing International Airport experienced a record-breaking day as it served over 155,000 passengers on Aug 6, marking the highest daily passenger throughput since its launch, reports China Daily. Inaugurated on Sep 25, 2019, Beijing Daxing has quickly emerged as a vital cog in the city's aviation infrastructure. Spurred by the dropping of zero Covid travel policies and introduction of over ten international and regional air routes since July, the airport has seen a remarkable uptick in air services this summer.
