Things Are Heating Up: Hot & Spicy Fest Vendors Pt.2
Hot & Spicy Fest is only two days away and we’ve already taken a look at the red hot entertainment and spicy offerings from vendors serving food from the Asia Pacific region. Now, we’ll be plunging into the fiery options from vendors across Europe, Africa and the Americas.
CODED 编码非洲音乐餐吧
Bringing the spices of West Africa to the fest is CODED, with an array of delicious dishes. First up is Nigerian Beef Stew, a classic West African dish that takes a soup base made from red oil, tomato, onion, pepper and other seasonings then adds beef. Next up is the Injera Tapas. Injera is a kind of flatbread from Ethiopia and Eritrea known for its spongy texture and sour taste. At the fest the injera will be paired with your choice of stew: Red Beef Stew, Chicken Stew or Spicy Lentil Stew (vegan).
They’ll also have Spicy Spaghetti which sees noodles fried with African spices and a special chili sauce. Lastly, in the chili department, they’ll have Sng-Si’nig (stuffed chili), a traditional side dish that sees a spicy green chili stuffed with chopped tomatoes, onions, and either marinated minced beef, shredded chicken or a vegan stuffing. Aside from food, they’ll have a couple of drinks including Hibiscus Juice and Traditional Ethiopian/Eritrean Coffee.
Las Musas Taqueria Las Musas 墨西哥餐吧
Sprinkling in some Mexican spice at the fest will be Las Musas, who will be serving up three exclusive tacos. The first two are meaty options: Spicy Habanero Chicken Taco and Green Chili Beef Machaca Taco, with which the use of habaneros and spicy green chilies from Mexico combines perfectly with the meat to create a mouth-watering, sweat-inducing taco experience. The third is a vegan option: the Hibiscus Flower Taco. Aside from tacos, they’ll also have Mexican street style Dorilocos (vegetarian loaded Doritos) as well as frozen Classic Margaritas, Mango Mojitos and Classic Mojitos.
DELI NYC 纽约三明治
Popular sandwich shop DELI NYC will be doing what they do best at the fest with their Hunan Spicy Fried Beef and Cheese Sandwich. This fusion dish takes the spicy flavors of Hunan cuisine and transports them into a Western-style sandwich. Along with the sandwich they’ll be serving up Spicy Buffalo Wings.
Latina Brazilian Steakhouse 拉蒂娜巴西牛排馆
Latina will transport your taste buds to Brazil with their selection: Spicy Brazilian Pork Sausage which sees links of pork married with an array of spices; and Spicy Brazilian Beef Skewers that feature picanha – a cut of beef taken from the top of the rump – combined with chilies. To wash it all down with they’ll be offering up Brazil’s national cocktail the Caipirnha, made from cachaça – a Brazilian spirit made from sugarcane juice -- lime and sugar it’s a perfect, refreshing drink for summer.
Larry the Bird
Chicken experts Larry the Bird have got a few items on their menu for the fest including the exclusive Mala Peanut Crispy Chicken Skewer with Black Tofu, which combines smelly tofu, mala peanus, hotpot sauce and coriander with a chicken skewer for the ultimate Chinese experience. They’ll also have the Mala Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Black Tofu and Spicy Dirty Waffle Fries.
CARPACCIO 卡巴乔
For Italian, there's CARPACCIO, who will have Spicy Salami with Sun-dried Tomatoes. The dish takes grilled spicy salami sausages and then pairs them with sweet sun-dried tomatoes which perfectly balance out the spiciness of the salami. They’ll also have Hot Chicken Leg which sees chicken marinated in a carefully crafted mix of Mediterranean spices then slow-cooked for 24 hours before finally being roasted at a high temperature with a secret spicy sauce until it’s beautifully charred on the outside but still tender in the middle.
Berlin Bites 柏林百特
Berlin Bites will be offering a range of special spicy renditions of their signature Currywurst. It takes fried pork sausage, tops it with their secret curry sauce then slathers on your choice of extra sauce: Non-Spicy, Tongue Tingle, Boldly Balanced or Screaming Sensation. They’ll also have their classic Döner, which can also be topped with your choice of sauce: Spicy, Garlic or Herbs. Plus, there's also the option to have chili flakes sprinkled atop your döner for an extra kick.
Berlin Bites have created a Spicy Fest exclusive as well: German Buffalo Chicken, but they’re keeping schtum on the details so you’ll have to try it for yourself at the fest to find out more! Aside from food, they’ve crafted an array of special drinks for the fest too, including a Pink Lemonade Slushie, Frozen Appletini and the El Diablo. The Frozen Appletini is a mixture of lemon-lime soda, apple and vodka in frozen form, making it the perfect drink to cool down, while the El Diablo – a concoction of homemade hot sauce, rum, lime juice and raspberry syrup – is sure to really heat things up.
Q MEX 库迈墨西哥餐吧
Another spot injecting some Mexican spice into the fest is Q MEX. From their Tomatillo Salsa to their Chipotle Tomato Salsa, to their new Chili Sauce, they’ve got a good collection of spices to please everyone. They’ll be serving two types of exclusive tacos at the fest: the first is Spicy Shrimp Tacos which feature fried shrimp coated in their extra spicy chili sauce, served on a yellow corn tortilla with shredded pickled radish and topped with homemade queso fresco, chopped cilantro and onions.
The second is the Chicken Tinga Taco which takes slow-cooked, pulled chicken thigh in a chili-tomato sauce and serves it on a yellow corn tortilla topped with homemade queso fresco, chopped cilantro and onions. Aside from tacos, they’ll have their signature Bulldog Cocktails which take a classic frozen margarita then adds a bottoms-up beer/craft cocktail of your choice!
Big Naughty Dogg
Offering up some fusion flavors at the fest with their hot dogs is Big Naughty Dogg, who have created two exclusive hot dogs for the fest. The first is the Chongqing Wanza Dog, which takes a hot dog and then tops it with spicy minced pork sauce, refried bawan beans, green onions and house-made Chongqing chili oil. The other is the Buldak HOT Ramen Dog, which pairs a hot dog with Korean noodle brand Samyang’s chicken noodles and finishes it with a sprinkling of crispy nori and a smear of mayo.
Also, just for the fest, they’ll also be bringing back their super popular Truffle de Provence Dog, which was a huge hit at Sausage Fest earlier this year. It features black truffle mayo made from select truffles from the Provence de France, smoked turkey ham, crispy onion crumble, and bacon bits atop a classic dog. For vegetarians, they’ve got the Grilled Tofu Dog, which swaps out sausage for grilled tofu and is topped with grilled onions, BBQ sauce, mayo, and crispy onion bits. Along with hot dogs, they’ll have a range of summery drinks including Aperol Spritz and Sangria.
TRIBE GARDEN 部落花园非洲餐吧
Tribe Garden will be serving Afro-fusion spice dishes at the fest, infusing a combination of West African dishes with spices from all over the western part of Africa, such as chinchinga spices from Ghana, hot mako pepper from Benin, suya from northern Nigeria and Mali and more. They’ll have two dishes available: Afro Spicy Suya Goat Meat, fried goat meat garnished with onions and a blend of African chili peppers; and Afro Spicy Plantain, deep-fried plantains dipped in rare African chili spices. If you want something to sip on they’ll have Virgin Mojitos (mango or peach), other non-alcoholic drinks, the Summer Cooler and a range of cocktails and beer.
LA PLATEA 兰蒂地中海餐吧
Showcasing Mediterranean spice at the fest will be LA PLATEA who have crafted two exclusive focaccia sandwiches for the event: the Spicy++ Chorizo Sandwich and Italian Sausage & Spicy Arrabiata Sandwich. The latter takes an Italian sausage and tops it with spicy arrabbiata sauce made from tomatoes, chilies and garlic. Along with sandwiches they’ll have Chorizo Tapas, Italian Sausage Tapas and, for those looking for dessert, Nutella & Pistachio Piadina, plus a range of craft beers and cocktails.
BRAUHAUG 甲丁坊•新德餐吧
German eatery BRAUHAUG will be serving up German-Mexican fusion food. They’ll have the fest exclusive German Style Spicy Pork Elbow Quesadilla, thin slices of crispy roasted pork elbow which have been marinated are layered with homemade hot sauce, fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes and cheese all inside a crunchy tortilla. The other dish on the menu is Fried Chicken with Mustard Sauce, which pairs juicy fried chicken with a homemade sauce made from green mustard and French mustard for a spicy concoction that’s sure to make your nose tingle. To wash it all down they’ll be offering one-liter glasses of Mojito (alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions available) a super refreshing, summery cocktail.
Great Leap Brewing 大跃啤酒
Craft brewpub Great Leap is another spot offering hot dogs at the fest. They’ll have the Chili Dog, which takes their house-made Australian beef chili made with plenty of chili peppers and piles it on a high-quality beef sausage sandwiched in a soft hot dog bun. They’ll also have Beef Chili Nachos, tortilla chips topped with house-made chili, sour cream, salsa, sliced jalapeños and parsley. Lastly, they’ve got Spicy Changsha Tofu, a super popular appetizer at Great Leap they keep it’s packed full of Hunan spice.
MORROW Grill & Cantina MORROW墨佬墨西哥餐厅
Throwing some Tex-Mex offerings into the fest, we have MORROW who will have two spicy dishes at the fest. The first is their take on Jalapeño Poppers which sees jalapeños stuffed with cheese, beef chili and vegetables, wrapped in breadcrumbs, and deep fried until golden brown. The second dish is Chili Nachos, in which tortilla chips are loaded up with MORROW's spicy four hour slow-cooked chili.
Nashville 乡谣餐吧
Country music restaurant Nashville has got three spicy dishes up for grabs at the fest, including the exclusive Spicy Crayfish Bruschetta. This features shelled summer crayfish mixed with mi chilies, olive oil, and tomato salsa all piled on a toasted baguette. They’ll also have their Signature Mexico Spicy Pork Ribs, Spanish black pork ribs marinated for 24 hours in a secret chili sauce and roasted until they're charred on the outside but still tender and juicy on the inside. The other dish is the Roasted Devil Spicy Chicken Wings, which consists of selected, large chicken wings marinated in a secret sauce made from Yunnan devil chilies.
Nord Grill&Bar 诺德西餐
Yet another spot bringing hot dogs to the fest is Nord, with two spicy hot dog offerings: a Chili Hot Dog and the Braised Cheese with Pepper Sauce Sausage Hot Dog. The former features their secret Mexican chili smothered over a sausage and topped with pickled jalapeño rings for a bit of extra spice. The latter is a Spicy Fest exclusive and sees a cheese-stuffed sausage covered in a Sichuan pepper sauce for a strong, fiery kick. They'll also have a range of beers to pair with the hot dogs and help your mouth cool.
BEIJING SALATE TRADING CO.,LTD 北京塞莱德商贸有限公司
BEIJING SALATE TRADING CO.,LTD only use high-quality corn-fed beef and pork, and they’ve used said high-quality meat to create two exclusive dishes for the fest. One is the Smoked Spicy BBQ US Pork Spare Ribs with French Fries and the other is the Char-Grilled US Beef Steak with American Chili Sauce.
PASTA-MANIA 满肉意面
Putting a spicy spin on pasta at the fest will be PASTA-MANIA with their Spicy Red Sauce Pasta. In addition to the pasta, they’ll have Black Pepper Spicy Sirloin Steak as well as German Sausages and their classic White Sauce Pasta.
ThailandMama 泰国妈妈猪手饭
Lastly, we have an injection of Thai spice from ThailandMama, who were missed from our first vendor post that focused on food from the Asia Pacific region. They’ll be serving a range of Thai delicacies at the fest including Khao Kha Moo, which features pork trotters slowly stewed until tender then paired with chutney, chili, and coriander.
Now that is one great line up of spicy offerings and we for one can't wait to try them this weekend!
