This award-winning dining room in the north of the city serves up Yunnanese cuisine in relaxed and comfortable style. Swathed in subtle earth tones and beiges, the environs are classically contemporary. The dining room is spacious and warmly lit with semi-opaque linens stretched between the tables to give a more intimate mealtime experience. The designer of the space won 3rd place in a national competition for interior architecture, so it’s worth a visit just to feel the ambience.
Fresh ingredients are flow in from Kunming on a regular basis and the Yunnanese chefs concoct traditional dishes using unique ingredients only found down south. They are adamantly against serving hot pot, explaining that it is neither authentically Yunnanese nor is it good for the room’s atmosphere. Instead they offer their hot and sour fish (suantang yu, RMB 28) in a traditional Yunnan copper pot.
