The Romanesque statue greeting your entrance hints at an eccentric, grand interior. It’s a severe understatement, as an amalgamation of styles is jauntily thrown together, from Greek columns and red leather sofas to floral cushions and paintings depicting the British countryside. The menu is more pleasing, with cocktails and Chilean and Argentinean wines. Teetotal admirers of abstraction can delight in non-alcoholic drinks whose occult names – take “Wizard of Oz” and “Witch’s Love” – give precious little hint as to what they actually contain.
