Longchengtang 龙城堂

One of numerous good restaurants around the National Art Museum of China, Longchengtang serves Guangxi cuisine in an atmospheric setting combining traditional Beijing courtyard aesthetics with Zhuang minority accoutrements decorating the walls. There’s no English menu or photos, so take along a Chinese-reading friend to order specialties like the dry pot stir fries (干锅) and fish dishes (from RMB 42). Try the crispy egg pancake with sweet and sour sauce (漓江酥衣蛋, RMB 28) and braised pork (荔浦芋扣肉, RMB 38), and finish off with a bowl of Guangxi’s own rice noodle soup (米粉).
