Two-star Michelin chef Claudio Sadler’s Ch'ien Men 23 restaurant features a sunny dining room and a cream color scheme. The simple design allows the food to take center stage. Creative dishes like the sauteed Angus beef fillet with a parmesan mousse and crispy asparagus impress, and there’s a plump selection of fine, artisinal wines to accompany your meal (other recommended dishes include the sea bass strudel with olive and aubergine, crusted lamb chops and warm octopus salad with beans). For dessert, the warm tiramisu gets rave reviews. A chef’s table seats around 12 guests, and there’s a gourmet food shop for those items that not even Jenny Lou’s stocks, as well as a pleasant garden (good for afternoon tea) and wine cellar (Cantina Sadler) downstairs. Lunch set menu go for RMB 158 or 258 (11.30am-2pm), and dinner set meals are RMB 600 (6-10.30pm).
