The End is Nigh: Where to Watch the 2016 US Presidential Election Results, Nov 9
Email scandals! Creepy hot mic gaffes! Toupees! Pantsuits!
There have been too many memorable aspects of the 2016 Presidential election to keep track of. And thankfully this highly entertaining, but also exhaustively offensive, campaign season will soon be coming to a climactic close. Hopefully we'll all be able to find some closure and move on afterward without too much therapy or dysfunction, but in the meantime we should prepare to celebrate that grand finale and figure out where to watch the exciting results.
A handful of Beijing venues will be showing the results on their TV screens, with some offering drink discounts. Here's a rundown of these politically savy spots:
Democalypse at Caravan and Cuju
Both of Badr Benjelloun's fine establishments will be showing the election live, along with a fun discount 1 kuai discount on Jing A's special Ale to the Chief and Bloody Pirate as blue and red states come in, respectively.
[SOLD OUT] The LocalThis Courtyard 4 mainstay will also be showing the election live. Management says that because of the broadcast's early hour there won't be any booze discounts. However, The Local will be offering a special breakfast menu that has yet to be finalized (check back here in the coming days for an update). Entry costs RMB 60, presale only.
Ron Mexico
Both food and drink will be served at this Andingmen bar for the election, with a taco buffet breakfast available from 7.30am onwards along with an elaborate range of drink specials. All shots will be available for RMB 10 after any state is declared for democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. For any republican-held senate seat flips to the democrats, shots will be sold for RMB 5. Owner Adam Gottschalk adds that there will be free rounds "if and when the election is called for Secretary Clinton. Or if it's called for Donald Trump, as we'll all need it."
Paddy O'Shea's
The beloved Dongzhimen Wai pub will open at 11.30am on the day of the election, just in time for customers to pop by and see the results over lunch.
Bridge Cafe
For those residing in Wudaokou, head to Bridge for election viewing. It will open its doors at 9am for anyone hoping to watch ongoing coverage on its TV screens.
Dog House
Clinton and Trump fight it out "in the dog house," literally at the Dog House, serving buns and weiners with lots of toppings, and giving attendees an opportunity to "network with the winners," on November 8 at 7.30pm. Entrance is free, hotdogs are RMB 25, and beer and wine will be sold for RMB 20 per glass. To RSVP, see the poster above or click here for more information.
If you know of any other hotspots to watch the final results roll in, political junkies, be sure to let us know in the comments section below. May the best woman win!

It's really so intense. I think one of them would have a heart attack during the election.
