This section of the Great Wall dates back the 14th century (Ming Dynasty) and is among the most spectacularly rugged sections within reach of Beijing. Highlights include the "The Eagle Flies Facing Upward" (鹰飞倒仰 / 鷹飛倒仰) watchtower and "Sky Stairs" featuring 80-degree inclines. Trips here are often paired with a visit to Yanqi Lake, which is just to the south. For lodging information, check the "Fairyland" listing under "Hotels, Hostels and Resorts."
