Get Hot Cross Buns in Time for Easter From These Shops

It’s almost Easter time and like any Western holiday it can be a little difficult to get those home comforts that you’re craving during the holidays here in Beijing. A few years ago I remember desperately trying to find hot cross buns to no avail, but luckily nowadays there are actually quite a few different options to choose from!

Comptoirs De France

French bakery chain Comptoirs De France have classic hot cross buns on offer both in store and on Meituan. They are available in batches of six and can be ordered for immediate delivery so are a great option if you have a sudden hankering for a hot cross bun.

They also have a range of other special Easter treats on offer such as chocolate eggs and rabbits which are perfect for children (or adults, embrace your inner child!) Simply search for Comptoirs De France on Meitaun Waimai to order, you may need to search for the Chinese name (法派1855 fǎ pài 1855) for it to come up, alternatively go to one of their many branches in Beijing.

Price: Six for RMB 68

Le Petit Pain

Next up on our list of places to get hot cross buns we have Le Petit Pain, another shop that is available on Meituan or in store (they have two locations).

This is probably the best option for anyone simply looking to celebrate Easter by indulging in one hot cross bun because they can be ordered individually and as they can be ordered through waimai it can be ordered immediately, making it super easy and convenient. Just search for their name on your favorite waimai app to order, or go to one of their physical locations.

The Bake Shop

Baochao Hutong’s The Bake Shop will begin taking pre-orders for their freshly made hot cross buns from tomorrow (Apr 5). They’ll be accepting pre orders until Apr 6 with estimated delivery of Apr 7-9. They usually sell their traditional hot cross buns in batches of six, however they haven’t yet announced their prices. To order you can scan the QR code in the poster below to go to their WeChat mini-program where you’ll be able to pre order from Apr 5. They have various delivery options available along with the option to pick them up from The Bake Shop’s itself.

Butler and White’s

There are three different flavors of hot cross bun being offered up by Butler and White’s: traditional, vegan and savory. The latter option sees the usual sweet ingredients and spices swapped out for cheese, garlic, chives, smoked bacon, red onion and sundried tomato. Sounds like an intriging little treat if you ask us.

Their traditional and vegan buns are available to order either in batches of four, eight or 12 and the savory buns in batches of four. You can order through their WeChat mini-program (scan the QR code on the poster above) and can choose whether you want them to be dispatched within 48 hours or later in the week.
