Community Matters: China AIDS Walk Scales the Wall
China AIDS Walk is back this year with their annual hike on the Great Wall. This large-scale fundraising project hopes to go beyond just raising HIV awareness and wants to influence the public to be active in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the discrimination against people afflicted by the epidemic.
2012’s walk saw donations from 3,400 people for a total sum of RMB 150,000 that was used to organize events and help people living with HIV. This year, an energetic fundraising campaign will culminate in the one-day hike at the Great Wall. Participants will learn more about reaching out to people about HIV/AIDS, build connections and develop fundraising skills.
The walk is slated for October 12. The project can be followed on their official website and Weibo and can be contacted via email: info@chinaaidswalk.org
In other charity news, the results for Chi Fan for Charity’s 2013 beneficiary vote came in last week. Educating Girls of Rural China and The Little Flower Projects are the two non-profit groups who will be benefiting from the event which will take place in November. We have more on that in this article.
