Toni & Guy's New Hair Trends: Look Like Demi Moore, Plus Discounts & More
With a new season comes fresh trends. You might have caught wind of the fashion world’s current enthusiasm for psychedelic furs or mixing prints (see September issue’s Get the Look feature, out later this week). But we betcha didn’t know such temporal whims applied to hairstyles as well.
Leave it to British academy and salon chain Toni and Guy to bring the focus back to our locks. The main issue with hair “trends” is that any changes we make, we must commit to. (It takes much longer to grow out an angled bob than to, say, remove a feather earring.) The more adventurous amongst us, however, can peruse their new collection – titled 2067 on account of its '60s and '70s influences – for a bold new look. Plus, we have free discount vouchers for a few of our lucky readers. Keep reading to learn how to win.
Haircut number one harks back to Demi Moore's short hair in the movie Ghost. Their press release describes it as "stylish, feminine and very easy to manage." If you've put off chopping off those long tresses all summer (even while your perspiring neck hated you for it), here's the perfect excuse to finally go for it. Low-fuss and bad-ass.
Haircut number two draws inspiration from '60s "it" girl Edie Sedgwick, using multi-layer cutting techniques to build up a rich texture. She was a rebellious woman (have you seen Factory Girl?!), so be sure and make sure you pull this playful look off with attitude.
Haircut number three is a little more feral, as its muse – Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones – was not renowned for playing it safe. Certainly not for the faint-hearted.
Haircut number four channels rock 'n roll's first female superstar Janis Joplin, who came from a time of free love and letting loose. It's feminine yet untamed. Rawr.
Haircut number five has no single muse in mind, but aligns with the hippie-chic vibe present in the rest of the hairstyles. The emphasis here is on rich volume and natural waves.
And now, for a chance to win RMB 100 discount vouchers (to use on any treatment of RMB 200 or more), answer this question in a comment below: Which hairstyle would you bring back? Extra points for creativity, of course.

Horrible haircut for 260rmb. I went there last week to get a fade on the sides and a bit off the top. They really don't know how to fade. Big spots on either side of my head. I wish I could post pics here.

The one I had before someone at Toni & Guy in Wangfujing butchered it, so I was forced to wear it in a ponytail and pinned up for months...

Hmmm, can I say none of the above? My personal favorite is the 70s, Mad Men style, a la Betty Draper. Chic, simple, retro...and of course, not at all lacking when it comes to touches of modern glamour.

I often go to Toni and Guy and ask them if they can give me a haircut that looks like they didn't even give me a haircut. I'm happy with their styling. When looking at the Janis Joplin, however, I think I might need to make a change for once. Oh the choices...

I now see that Toni is the one I should be crediting for all the creative hairstyles I see. Question, can he also do plain hair? 8>
