Pure Lotus borders on the pretentious but it is undeniably one of the more unique dining experiences in Beijing.

Though entirely vegetarian, the food is not bland -- their "one finger zen" sausage tastes better and in some senses meatier than the real thing, and their veggie take on lazi ji (chicken pieces stir fried in hot peppers) is again better than the dish it imitates.

The atmosphere is laid back and over the top -- quiet, soothing and relaxing with a vibe that is more reminiscent of a Thai spa than a Beijing restaurant.

Prices are high, I'd expect to drop about 100+ per person for a meal.
