This Tamarind at Soho Shangdu isn't the best Indian restaurant in Beijing - though the unrelated Tamarind at the Marriott hotel on Xiaoyun Lu may well be - but it is a place i've returned to several times for cheap and enjoyable set lunches.

I forget the exact price, but for around RMB 25-35 you get a soup, salad and a curry with rice and naan. The curries are filling, and good enough to make for a satisfying lunch.

Try it once and you'll probably end up going back for more.
