Saw an ad in The Beijinger regarding an All-American Barbecue Buffet at the Regent Hotel and thought we would give it a try. The buffet is open every Sunday from 4:30 and we arrived at about 6pm and no one there which caused me some concern.
However after a quick walk around it looked very promising and it was and around 6:30 pm it started to get more people. Not all the American fare was there as it excluded hamburgers (hot dogs were available, but no buns) but the ribs, steak, pork chops, prime rib, and ham certainly made up for missing hamburgers.
Salads and side items were plentiful including corn on the cob and BBQ beans.
The dessert selection was nice as well with Boston creme, apple pie, peach cobbler, pecan pie and more as well as some very fresh fruit.
A nice touch was also to have freshly made popcorn brought to the table to nibble on as well.
The negative items are that the staff did not seem very knowledgeable regarding the buffet and struggled a bit with their English skills. The fact that they did not include any beverages was a surprise as their Ad in the magazine seemed to indicate that. Although there was no service charge on the buffet, they added 15% to the beverage bill.
All in all a good experience to have when we get an urge for some ribs and worth the 374 yuan for 2, plus the freebie for the little one.
