Quaint, especially to relive Beijing as Third World Country

Serviceable dumplings, though I failed to taste a significant difference between what they serve up and what's available at basically every other dumpling joint in town. Multi-colored dumpling skins are a nice touch I suppose.

But what this place has going for it is that ramshackle, crammed-in-a-corner, don't-set-foot-in-the-washroom feel that used to be prevalent in Beijing but now is a disappearing breed.

Great for out-of-town visitors who are sorely disappointed to see Beijing's streets filled with Audis and well-dressed people and who long for a journey of hardship and deprivation and want to have fantastic stories of how they bit the bullet and managed to order themselves a meal in an honest-to-goodness local eatery in communist China.
