Once again I am shocked to see what happens when expats with no culinary sense vote for the Restaurant Awards. The only reason the Olive has received an Outstanding award for Mediterranean cuisine is because the stay at home moms and yoga freaks have nothing else to do but visit the "trendy" places that look chic and partake in surveys. Anyone who has actually been to the Mediterranean will quickly ascertain that the Olive's food is nowhere close to being remotely Mediterranean. Throwing in a few olives and lettuce does not make it so, and in fact the food is unimaginative and bland if not near terrible. On the day I chose to try the cafe the seafood was noticeably off, even with the head chef there to prepare the dishes. For someone supposedly so well trained, how do you allow your diners to munch on salty, fishy shrimp? The wine was equally horrendous, and the mains and appetizers were as equally dull as this choice of word.
