This unpretentious restaurant is a stalwart and one of my favorites, an affordable, pleasant place to go with vegetarian friends.

They cook here according to Buddhist standards for vegetarian food, which means no garlic, mo meat, no onions - but plenty of soy based mock meat. Thankfully peppers - both chilli and corn - are not banned by whoever set the Buddhist food rules. It means that there are still a lot of exciting flavors that Buddhists can create with their food, and these Buddhists at Still Thoughts do it as well as anyone.

Warmed huangjiu is a good match for the food, whether or not you partake in the nice selection of reasonably-priced teas.
