Shaobing used to be a bit like plain white mantou to me - despite many earnest attempts at giving it the benefit of the doubt, I didn't understand how if it was good, it would matter.

Long Xingsheng has educated me in that regard, and I now understand that a fine shaobing is every bit as lovely and precious as, er, a bagel.

These flaky fellows justify even the most meaningless trip to Houhai. The roasted mutton by the pound is also delicious.

The entrails soup tastes like entrails. Which proves it is what it says. Which proves it is good for your entrails.
