I was so bummed when my beau won a free gift certificate for a hair treatment in the Beijinger reader survey - I was really, really hoping he'd win the massages, but alas, he won the top prize and since he has relatively little hair, he donated it to my dry and brittle mop.

I decided to make an evening of it and get my hair cut and colored as well. Long story short - I am happy. "A" (I didn't quite get his name, but I think this is it) did a great job coloring my hair, and proactively told me that if the color didn't come out the way I liked it (my hair has seen many colors) I could come back and he'd fix it anytime. It's a touch dark but I'll give it a week, since pre-treated hair tends to fade. Sweet guy, and very gentle. The color cost me RMB 780 for "medium length" hair. They first tried to tell me I had "long hair" but I disagreed and they agreed to medium length hair.

My hair dresser Phillip (a cut wit him runs RMB 180, cheapest one's start at RMB 120) seemed a little stuffy at first, but was quite good, and really understood that fine hair needs special attention. He also joked with me about the fact that I cut my own bangs, which was so much nicer than the scoffing I usually get. He even stayed late to wrap up the job. As I was leaving, the owner of the Salon, KK, who had also stayed late, personally saw me off.

The hair treatment - which has a long Italian name I can't remember and can't look up because their website is inaccessible - was brief and relaxing (ca. 20 minutes, and normally runs RMB 680) and left my hair super soft and shiny. I couldn't stop playing with it.
