By totally painless I mean both on the teeth and on the wallet. My husband and I went, he for a toothache, I for a suspected cavity, and both left smiling and only RMB 200 lighter total. I think RMB 100 per visit is very reasonable, and I would describe Dr. Metzmacher very much the same way. My suspected cavity turned out to be a stain, but he made sure to give me a full check anyways, and after carefully examining my husband's teeth he explained to him why the teeth hurt, and how he could do an x-ray but suspected that nothing would come of it. He was very patient and friendly. I haven't been to many, but I'd venture to say he's the best dentist in Beijing. He's certainly one of my favorite, and this from a girl who is usually drugged before appointments because I really, really hate dentists. Worth the trip to Wangjing.
