Review of CCSweets
I picked up some cupcakes for a colleague the other day and took a small bite of a carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting. It was divine. Carol Chow prides herself on striking a flavor balance for eastern and western palates, and she's done an amazing job. Plus, she uses natural and imported ingredients, sweetening the deal. If I ever go back on the sugars, I'll be a regular.
It's a little tricky to find, tucked away in behind a post, but worth the search.

Re: I don't like cupcakes, but I like these cupcakes!
Oh wow, alone reading the poetic alliteration "carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting"...!
I usually just speed-read through agenda but a quote by Carol Chow stuck to me in the current issue: "I feel that American cupcakes are too sweet, but after you live here for a while you lose your sweet tooth!" It reminded me of all the dangerously sweet stuff we ingested during college in the US...I mean, even a "healthy" green salad comes with marshmallows inside it there! In my home Germany, we'd have a kind of afternoon teatime - Kaffeezeit - with coffee and a piece of cake or sweet pastry, but it wouldn't be nearly as sweet. After so many years in China, I also noticed that although I still crave dessert especially after a Chinese meal, my sugar sweet tolerance level is considerably lower than it used to be.
I need to try those creamy carrot cake cupcakes!
