I threw up after eating salmon sashimi at Sushiyano Kagayaki

This is a review of Sushiyano Kagayaki in the Lido area.

Sushiyano Kagayaki opened August 8 in the Gaojiayuan community (in the Lido/United Family Health area).

Why is this news exciting for residents of this area?

- There are limited sushi options within walking distance (Lido Hotel has one)
- The chef is from Yotsuba (a hip and very popular sushi restaurant)

My attempt to get a seat at the sushi bar last Sunday (August 14) was a failure: the tiny sushi bar was packed and the staff very RUDELY turned us away without even giving us the opportunity to wait for a table.

Every staff we encountered that night gave us a rude sneer.Note: the restaurant has a sushi bar on left and yakitori restaurant on right called BAXIWEI. Tonight I finally got a chance to the sushi.

The verdict? UNIMPRESSED. I am a sushi aficionado and have had (what I believe to be) the finest in Beijing…this is far, far from it.
The fatty salmon sashimi was drenched in fish oil…really foul taste.

In fact, I threw up the oily salmon only three hours after eating it!

THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE SALMON HAS DONE THIS TO ME.

The other dishes were just OK.My favorite sushi restaurant in Beijing is Edomae on Lucky Street; it’s the “bees knees.” In fact, any sushi restaurant in Solana or Lucky Street would best Sushiyano Kagayaki.

I feel bad writing this review but my two experiences with this restaurant were really unpleasant.

A quick note: I was taken to Yotsuba in 2007 and thought it was mediocre and too hush-hush quiet for my taste.

Overall, the Lido area could have done so much better.
