Had dinner here for the 1st time last night and didn't know what to expect considering the mixed reviews
Firstly I like the whole BYO policy. We brought a RMB 100 bottle of red with us which if paying restaurant prices would have been 400 and they don't charge corkage.
The service was pretty bad but to be fair they were packed with what seemed like a few parties and it was Monday so will give them the benefit of doubt on this issue.
We had 3 different types of dip and 2 of them ( yoghurt and garlic & some tomato spicy thing ) were excellent howerever the hummus which people rave about was pretty meh.
The grilled meats however were fantastic. The lamb chops, the lamb pieces and the beef kebab thing were very very good. Well seasoned, succulent and generous portions. The surprising thing was the rice. Living in china ,rice is just one thing I could not give a f@#k about. It's just there and usually uninspiring. But the basmati rice at rumi was fluffy and just flavourful.
The deserts were ok although the baklava had a very strong ginger taste which was a bit weird.
The space and ambience is good, the toilets clean and the whole place is smoke free which is a blessing
