Review of Argo
1

My Argo experience in a few words:

* eggplant pasta was too salty
* gyro plate grew cold with astonishing rapidity, would have preferred a traditional gyro
* waitstaff was incredibly rude, had to have a big showdown when they messed up my order
* portions on the small side
* restaurant lacking in ambiance

In light of this:

@thebeijinger: change your review. Fleeced is exactly how you feel after leaving this place. How many negative user reviews is it going to take?

Why I ate there: I have been to Argo twice. I live in the area and have been wholly satisfied with other nearby restaurants, in particular the Veggie Table.

Why I will never eat there again:

Tonight, I thought I would pop into Argo for a bit of baklava. The picture on the menu showed two triangular pieces arranged on a single plate. The price listed was 28, a little steep, but I thought I'd give it a try. What I got was one very subpar piece of Baklava.

Upon receiving the Baklava, I told my waitress that there must have been some kind of mistake. I pointed at the menu, which clearly showed two triangular pieces, and then pointed at my single piece. I'm not the best speaker of Chinese, but I thought at the time that she said something to the effect of, "You asked for yi ge, so I brought you one," in which case I was expecting to be charged half of the 28, ie 14. After scarfing it down in about 30 seconds (microscopic portion), I inquired about the bill.

They told it was 28.

Naturally, I was shocked. I point this out to one waiter, who tells me (FIRST TERRIBLE EXCUSE)it is not a real picture of the baklava, that they got it off the internet because they thought it was beautiful. Ok, I don't believe that because 1) other pictures on your menu look exactly like what you bring out (see their distinctively arranged Gryo plate for an example) and 2) it shouldn't matter. Find a picture on the internet of one piece of baklava. A burger restaurant can't put a picture of a burger on the menu and then give you half of a burger and charge you full price.

First waiter grabs another waitress.

She comes over and commences the SECOND TERRIBLE EXCUSE which was something along the lines of "You should have pointed that out when you first got it. Since you ate it, now you aren't allowed to complain." Except that I did point it out beforehand. Second waiter denies this.

First waiter grabs head waitress.

She comes over and REITERATES THE FIRST TWO EXCUSES. I explain to her that I did in fact point it out at the beginning, and she confers with second waitresses. Head waitress then tells me she can bring me another piece. I tell her (because I'm extremely agitated and because it was not tasty) not to bother. She resists briefly, but after I insist that I'm only paying 14 kuai, she agrees.

I could go on, but I don't feel like wasting my time describing this place further.

Just know that you shouldn't eat here.
