Review of Home Plate BBQ

Okay first of all, the food is pretty good for its price. So no problem there: 4 stars

couple of things that ruined the experience:

- there is no lineup system, we ended up getting line cutted by couple of other groups, and ended waiting 40 mins. There need to be a number system with the resturant with a restuarant this popular

- They served us the wrong food couple of times, first it was some meat plate we didn't order, we recognize that pretty easily even through it was our first time there, then they brought two extra serving of side dishes, and since we had a couple of fries they just left it with us without telling us a word. It is okay to get it wrong once, but TWICE? Not only that, they didn't tell us they were going to bill us for their mistake until after we got the check, no apology, just 'hey you shouldn't eat that'

Good place through, just be careful

I had the same experience the other week due to the fact that:

a) I like a beer or two

b) I'm not an inconsiderate twat who hovers over people's tables, blocks the service pass and entrance and generally makes a scene until they get a table (You know the type - out of work US college social science misfits who look and smell like they havent washed or changed clothes for six months. Sort your lives out you shabby fuckers)

It was full when we arrived but no one else waiting and I had politely asked someone serving to fit us in whenever there was a free spot. He was overwhelmed and was completely spinning over the situation so we squeezed in at the bar and ordered a few cold ones. A bit later the aforementioned groups arrived and there was pandemonium.

After about ten minutes of this, we were given a scrap of paper with number 3 on it. So needless to say we supped up and fucked off round the corner to Kro's.

Now I'm no stranger to inept service in Beijing, but I hope this is just a case of the places popularity growing too fast for it's size. To be fair the owner was not there, so perhaps he would have sorted this situation out correctly.

I'm sure now the outdoor seating is back this will be remedied but I hope my experience is not a sign of Home Plate thinking 'yeah we've made it, now we don't have to try anymore cos were popular and famous'.
