Just posted this in the forum, thought it might belong here too:
I have so far studied at LTL for about a year. My experiences:
Teachers: I have had two teachers so far and they have been both very good. I have studied Chinese beforehand at different institutions (university, private schools, private tutor - basically tried anything there is to try) and the quality of the teachers I had at LTL has been better than what I found at other places. Both had worked there for a long time (and still do), have been working as Chinese teachers for years (including other schools previously I believe) and seem to want to continue to do so. I might have been lucky with my teachers, but I think it is a good sign when a school can hold their staff.
Service:The school is run by a fluent Mandarin speakers who is also a long-term foreigner in China. I think from a cultural perspective that made it easy for me to deal with them and also profit from the experience of a foreigner who did manage to reach fluency. There do not seem to be many (I certainly am not). They were very supportive in helping me to get the money re-imbursed from my company (quite a lot of paperwork there)and have been very flexible with time arrangements.
Note: after a year of studying, I do know the owner of LTL by now and we sometimes go for drinks after class. I dont think that makes me biased, but I thought I should state it.
