I was really excited for Great Leap when they first opened as local craft brewing was something Beijing was sorely lacking. The first few beers I had there tasted good, but were almost always flat and warm. I stayed away for a while hoping it would improve and upon future visits it definitely did. Inevitably though, about 1 in ever 4 beers I order there is unpleasantly lacking in carbonation. I don't expect or want something like Stella Artois where it's so carbonated that it almost hurts to drink, I just really hate drinking beer that's flat and goes down like syrup.
They've been open 2 years now and I figured this is something that they would have under control, but a visit this past weekend prove that they still can't handle this. Several of the beers were marked on the menu as "slow," and when one of my friends asked about this, they said that they were pouring slowly and would take a few minutes. I took this as a sign to steer clear but a few of my friends ordered some of these, and after taking 5 minutes to fill a glass, the beer was handed over to them unacceptably flat.
When the beer's carbonated properly I don't mind the 30-40 kuai per glass so much. It is expensive, but it's a nice change of pace from Chinese beer and similarly priced to decent imported beers at other bars. I do resent, however, paying that much money, and being given a pint that doesn't meet basic quality standards.
Fix this and I would love to make this a more frequent hang out. Until then, I'll come by every six months or so hoping things have changed for the better.

Re: Please figure out how to carbonate/pour your beers ...
Agreed you'd think for the price they would at least get the basics right!!!
