I'd read the reviews of this place but had no idea where it was, so after going to the Mongolian Embassy today I walked past it and decided to drop in for breakfast.

The first impression is bad. It really, really doesn't appear to be a restaurant when you walk inside. The place is run down and cluttered. It feels like they've given up on the place, or have just reopened after a storm or something. They really need to renovate this place. A previous reviewer said the poor decor adds to its charm. In a way it does, but the place is borderline grim.

The service was excellent. The waitress who served me (Chinese, mid-30s, glasses) made me feel like I was not in China. Prompt, friendly, professional. Possibly the best service I've had in Beijing.

I ordered the pancakes and a tea. I enjoyed them. I would come here again for breakfast.

I'd like to give them 4/5, but the poor decor drop them to 3/5.
