Review of Daylight Donuts
5

Ok....I have been living in China for almost 2 years now, but was living in a smaller city in the south for most of the time. I have only been in Beijing for about 3 months. I love Chinese food, and I can find pretty good pizza when I am in the mood for something to remind me of home. But, if there is one thing I have been absolutely CRAVING since I have been here is.....a jelly-filled donut. Yes, there are "donuts" in the bakeries in the city I was living in, but they were mostly like eating flavored cardboard.

So, I was excited when I found Daylight Donuts here on the site. First, my wife and I went to Joy City in Xidan to look for it. But, we searched every floor and there was no sign of it. So, I am guessing that that branch is closed down. Well, after work the other day I happened to be in the west side of the city, so I figured I would go to Weigoncun and see if I could find that one. Needless to say, when I caught the first glimpse of it while walking down the sidewalk, I felt as giddy as a schoolgirl. Okay...maybe not that excited, but I was pretty happy.

I got there at about 12:30 in the afternoon, and there was only a small tray of donuts left, but I was still able to choose a good variety of 6 different donuts. So, my suggestion is that if you want a very good selection, you better get there pretty early.

Ok....now for the important part...the donuts themselves. My response to that is the same as the title of this review. The donuts were excellent! Of course, the only bad thing is that they are a bit pricey(32 RMB for 6 donuts), but I have to say, for me....it was worth it. It is just too bad that I won't be able to go there everyday because of the prices. But hey.....I guess that will make my wife and my waistline happy.

Bottom line.....if you are an American like me and you miss the taste of a REAL donut(especially jelly-filled), then this is the place for you!
