Being loyal and enthusiastic GLB #12 fans, we finally made it over to their new location near LiangMaQiao. We had fairly high expectations simply based on our experiences at #12. The service is almost always excellent, the beers are fantastic (the Agressor may be my favorite beer of all time) and the burgers are hands-down the best in Beijing. We decided to go on Lunar New Year Day, since we have children and figured it'd be less busy. We ordered 2 beers, one slice of pizza and one full pizza. Beers were predictably good, but it was the pizza that really blew us away. The daily slice pizza was The Mushroom-delicious garlic oil, cheese blend, ricotta cheese and fresh arugula on top. Our boys wanted the traditional pepperoni pizza, which was the best pepperoni pizza I've had in Beijing. The crust is phenomenal-crunchy, chewy, slightly charred. The sauce, cheese and topping ratio is near perfection. We were practically moaning with satisfaction. It's hard to beat great beer and great pizza on a cold Beijing day. Everything was so impressive, we went back yesterday. This time they had the Green Machine (veggie) and The Chicken by the slice so we tried one of each as well as a full cheese pizza. Again, everything was delicious. The veggies on the Green Machine were fresh and crisp, while the chicken with pesto ricotta and roasted tomatoes may take top prize. The cheese was simple but excellent. Pizzas take a bit longer to come out, but the wait is worth it, especially when you have a craft beer in front of you. There is talk about returning for a third time over the holiday...
