We went to KTV on a Monday night around 6pm. Easy peasy, you'd think. They'd appreciate the clientele during a quiet time, you'd think. And you would be very, very wrong.
We were six, and all of us had been to this KTV seperately a couple of times. Although we knew it isn't the most service-friendly KTV location, it is convenient and you can generally get things organised. Upon arrival, there was already a lot of confusion because by the time they got us to a room it was 6.30pm and the price pre-7pm and post-7pm differs quite a bit. After a bit of haggling, we got a room until 8pm, with a bottle of vodka and mixers (orange juice and soda water) for RMB 500.
After an hour and a half (so around 7pm) one of the staff came back into the room and started pushing for more money and telling us that we had to pay now to be able to continue to sing. After telling him to leave, he came back again at 7.30pm, and again at 7.45pm. We told him that we would leave at 8pm, as planned, but he decided that this wasn't good enough and took my friends' phone because we weren't willing to pay extra in advance (even though it still was not 8pm). It was only after a lot of swearing that he gave the phone back and left us alone.
Some constructive feedback for Coolth: if customers pay until 8pm, let them be until 8pm. Or perhaps remind them their time is nearly over at 7.50pm. Don't keep coming in and out asking for more money, and definitely don't threaten to take someone's private property if customers are still within their alloted singing time. Won't be coming back here.

Re: Rude, rude, rude.
My neighbours would really hate that. Also that's a rather racist remark, perhaps it's time for you to leave China.
