I have never in all my life had such a horrible service than I did at the Sanlitun branch, when it came to my hair.
The first appointment I made, they were very nice, very accomidating, asked me what I would like done, and then dove right in. I told them I wanted light blonde, so that I could go a pastel color. I told her my hair had coloring in it before, so it would probably need to be stripped so I wouldn't get bands of color. She told me that wouldn't be a problem, and that she could get it how I wanted. I also informed her that I've never had just bleach on my hair, but my hair lightens very easily so a mix of color and bleach normally does the trick.
This is where she messed up. She just put coloring in my hair.
Sure it lightened, but it wasn't light enough, and by then it was about 2 hours in, so she decideds lets do bleach.
Now I've told her I have a very sensitive scalp, but she puts the bleach on anyway. And no, i'm not a professional stylist of hair color expert, but every single time I've gotten my hair done, or seen someone do anything that has the tiniest amount of bleach, they leave at least a centimeter from the scalp for last. She slathered it on my head, and told me to wait for 10 minutes.
After about 3 I was in agony.
I told her that my head was itching and burning, and she told me that it was lightening amazingly so it would only take 3 more minutes. After those three minutes I was practically jumping out my chair to get it washed because it felt like acid, but I didn't complain she was the professional she knew what she was doing.(this was a senior stylist by the way)
After she washes it out its gorgeous! The color is amazing, and I'm very happy, so she cuts it a little to trim the dead ends, then blow dries it. I notice its a little dry, which is to be expected when you use straight bleach. I tell her i'll make an appointment later when I look at my calender, pay my rediculous amount of 1800yuan(after discount of first going there) and leave.
It wasn't till that night did I notice I had chemical burns and was bleeding!
She burned my scalp so badly I had sores in my head the size of 1yuan coins for a month! If I washed my hair too roughly it would bleed, and my hair was dryier than the Sahara at noon. This was the worst my hair had ever been. It took me a few months to get up the courage to send them an email explaining what happened. They were shocked, and by then I had already redyed my hair to a slightly darker blonde because my roots were starting to grow out.
They apologize and tell me they want to make it up to me, so I stupidly decided to give it a chance, and ask if they could fufil my request of going a gray color. They say of course and so I go in.
I get a damn spot with the owner, Catherine. She is very nice, apologizing for everything, and trying to figure out the stylists name(who they can't find out even with their computer catalogue) who did my hair last. I can't remember either because I'm horrible with names and faces. So she tells me she can't do gray.
I'm a bit taken aback considering in the email she told me she can, she says well we can do it but it will be a little blue, maybe a slight tint in the sun, and I don't want to go too close to your scalp because I don't want to hurt her. So I explain what I told the chinese woman that did my hair the first time, a mix of bleach and color doesn't hurt me, but straight 40 volume bleach will destroy my hair. She basically ignores this and goes on to say the same thing she said about the gray, so I say yes I'll do it, and so she does my hair in the hair washing basin so that she doesn't hurt my roots. After about an hour or so she takes me out.
My hair is blue.
Not just a slight tint of blue, but full on blue, and she and her other stylists deny it up and down saying its a little blue in the front but the rest is gray. And there is about 1 inch or more from my scalp that isn't dyed at all.
She says I told you this is how it would be, but she said a little blue, and a little from my scalp. Not freaking cobalt blue and an inch from my scalp!
I'm almost in tears so I just say whatever and get her to trim my edges, then she slightly curls my hair as she blowdries it.
When I get home I ask my husband, and send a picture to my friend asking what thye think. They say its pretty, but its not gray its blue, and ask why I have an inch from the scalp that is blonde.
Resting my case I wash my hair to get the damn product out, come out, blow dry it, and now its slightly less blue and looks really pretty, besides the roots.
After a few days and one more washing my hair is the most disgusting looking color I have ever seen. Its green, its gray, its blonde, and it is horrible. AFTER TWO WASHINGS!
So I send a message to them about it, telling how angry and upset I am that a dye would wash out that quickly, after a few days I get the same song and dance apologizing for the late responce, and telling me they will order me some shampoo and that they want me to come back in and they will try a different dye.
I say okay and after a few days, and clocking in at 4 washes since I dyed it, its basically blonde so I send another email saying I dont' want to even try to go gray, can they get me to a sort of pastel pink. I've had it in the past, it lasts forever, and its low mantinence. After a WEEK of no email, they reply and say they can't really do that because it will damage my hair.
...
But they would go gray?...
So I tell them thanks for nothing, tell them how horrible the service and damage they have done to my hair is, and basically tell them to fuck off because i'll find someone else.
I've never in my life of dying it myself, or going to salons, have this much damage and had this much trouble with dying my hair.
I've gone pink before, bleached my hair with a bleach/color mix, and then used a vegetable perminant hair dye and gotten pink that left my hair more healthy than before.
I don't know how they claim to be a professional salon when they can't do the most simple things
Good for a haircut, horrible for anything else. I would not recomend to anyone.

Ah, that might sound impolite in a way; No disrespect intended, OP.
May your hair be always shiny and beautiful.
