New Openings: Jimmy’s Thai Kitchen & Lounge

Jazz aficionados, listen up. A new bar has picked up where the late, lamented OT Lounge left off. Jimmy’s presents live jazz and various ensembles (e.g. world, folk, funk, rhythm & blues – no rock or DJs) every night of the week.

There’s a Thai/Malay snack menu (RMB 25-45) and drinks (beers, wines, mixed drinks for RMB 25-35), but the focus is on the music. Swathed in royal blue and purple, the venue has a 100+ seat capacity and room enough for a dance floor, should you feel the need. Jimmy’s is serious about supporting the local scene; a cover charge of RMB 30 (includes a free beer) will make it possible to offer these musicians a living wage.
