Valencian Treats at Niajo

Paella is one of those Western dishes that goes over particularly well for the Chinese palate – it’s hard for anyone to resist a rice dish so jam-packed with goodness. Niajo, yet another new restaurant in burgeoning Nali Patio, specializes in this Valencian treat.

Chef Alex Sanchez, a native of the Mediterranean city, prepares his paellas in the traditional way with a huge cast iron pans filled with an assortment of ingredients ranging from the simple paella Valenciana (RMB 145), made from chicken pieces, plump butter beans and runner beans amid swollen jewels of saffron-infused rice, to the sublime paella del sinoret (RMB 190), with king prawns, scallops and monkfish. An assortment of tapas, cheeses, jamon and wine round out the offerings.
