Soccer Legends Touch Down in Beijing
Already slipping into soccer withdrawals? No problem. World Cup-winning goal scorer Andres Iniesta and the boys from FC Barcelona land at the Bird's Nest on August 8, commemorating the second anniversary of the opening of the Beijing Olympics.
Catalan football royalty in their own right, FC Barcelona are the current La Liga title winners, and won the Champions League in 2009. Along with Iniesta, the team will feature other Spanish national stars Carles Puyol, whose header against Germany put Spain through to the final, and David Villa, whose five tournament goals tied him as the World Cup's top scorer. Oh, and there's Lionel Messi, who won a gold medal at the Bird's Nest when Argentina downed Nigeria in the Olympic final, but who then sucked in South Africa.
Sadly for our Irish friends, Thierry Henry will probably have completed his move to the New York Red Bulls by the time FC Barcelona touch down in Beijing.
