Happy Nova Year: Win Tickets For New Year's Eve!

Got your New Year's Eve plans sorted out yet? Pretty much every bar and club in Beijing will have some sort of celebration, but if you're looking for something huge, head up to 798. In one corner of the Dashanzi art district, the ever-reliable Yen Countdown party is back again, but over in the 751 D-Park area of 798, the Nova New Year's Party makes its debut with a headline set from one of the most significant figures of the past two decades in British dance music, Darren Emerson, and Chinese DJs including Huang Weiwei, Terry Tu, X.L.F. and Dave K. We've got all the information on the party and a ticket contest right here!

Nova is the first party from FDC, a gang of promoters numbering, among others, former Acupuncture Records affiliate Xiao Lin Feng (you might know him as X.L.F.). You'll be hearing a lot more from them in 2012 - they're planning a big party every two to three months next year and expect to be able to bring a number of well-known international DJs to Beijing in the next 12 months. But for now, let's look at what they've got planned for Nova on December 31.

The lineup
Although Yen's Countdown and Acupuncture's Genesis are the more established New Year parties (and certain to draw big crowds), Nova is the only party bringing a big international name this New Year's Eve - Darren Emerson was one of the most influential electronic music producers of the late-90s and has remained active over the past decade (even if he is getting on a bit). If you don't recognize the name, all I'll say is "Born Slippy." If you think that means nothing to you, watch this video.

If that still means nothing to you, you'd probably best go to Migas for New Year. But wait! Nova's lineup isn't just Emerson - he's backed up by a handy bunch of Chinese DJs including former Acupuncture boys X.L.F. and house maestro Terry Tu as well as Huang Weiwei and Shanghai's Dave K.

The venue
Nova takes place in an extremely cool spot called the "Green Zone"at 751 D-Park - a huge, disused industrial gas tank. If you're unsure of where that is, D-Park is the site of the annual outdoor INTRO electronic music festival - of course, the Nova party will take place indoors and should be nice and warm. The party will get started around 10pm.

Tickets
Tickets are RMB 200 on the door, and RMB 150 if you buy before December 30. Tickets are available at venues around Beijing including:
Sanlitun: Latte, Kro's Nest, Stumble Inn, Salud, Paddy O'Shea's
Wudaokou: Helen's, Bridge Cafe, CDCD
Gulou: Cafe Zarah, Salud, Temple, NLGX

For more information, call 159 1097 7653 (English), 133 2115 8610 (Chinese) or visit FDC's website.

That's all the info you need. Now, to win a pair of tickets for Nova, leave a comment below telling us: Excluding family/friends, who would you most like to spend New Year's Eve with? (And why?) Best answer submitted before noon on Wednesday, December 28 takes the tickets.

Nothing to see here

I want to spend my new year eve with Norman, because he is an easy-going man. And I guess he will buy me a rose at that time. <:P

Btw, Helen bar is not far from my home. If I am lucky, I want two tickets of Helen bar.

Why do men lie to women so easily? Just because a man just needs to give the start, then the lie is done by the woman herself.

Metta World Peace (Ron Artest)
because he changed his name to appropriately prepare the world for his new years celebration. At the stroke of midnight, he will blast a superbeam of peaceful awesomeness.

So the reason to be next to him for ny day would be to see the awesome light show that comes out of his eyes. Some good Dj's would help with ambiance.
