View From Gongti: Beijing Guoan 0-0 Qingdao Jonoon
After a two week international break, the CSL was back on Saturday night as Beijing Guoan took on Qingdao Jonoon. However, the Beijingers only managed a 0-0 draw against the league’s worst team.
The match started out slowly, as can be expected when players have been away for so long, but things picked up at the end of the first half, in part because Guoan took a defender off and brought on attacker Mao Jianqing. In the last seconds of the first half, Qingdao went down to 10 men as one of their players was shown a second yellow card.
In the second half, Guoan mounted a number of attacks, pushing forward and often looking dangerous, but they couldn’t break down Qingdao, having set up shop in defense. A threatening Xu Liang free kick almost made it past the Qingdao keeper, but it was not to be.
Guoan took one point from the match and with Guangzhou Evergrande winning on Sunday, now sit four points behind the leaders. The Men in Green are at home again this week, playing Jiangsu Sainty Saturday night at Gongti. Tickets are currently on sale at liansaipiao.com.
