Weekend Live Music Roundup: L'Enfance Rouge and a Djang San Marathon
Please note that L'Enfance Rouge's lead singer, Francois R. Cambuzat, will be playing as L'Enfant Rouge.
First to some music news; as part of the ongoing UK Now arts series, which is bringing some fine British talent to our shores over the next few weeks including Welsh math rockers The Gallops, And So I Watch You From Afar have confirmed they will play Beijing as part of a five-city China tour. They will reach Beijing at the apex of their visit performing at MAO Livehouse on August 17.
Now to this weekend, and avant-rockers L'Enfance Rouge head up the musical offerings for this edition of the roundup. But they're ably assisted by a host of worthy support acts. The long weekend gets underway tonight when Zhang Si'an takes to the stage at Temple offering his experimental folk rock stylings.
Tomorrow night provides myriad options for music lovers. The afore mentioned L'Enfance Rouge will be well worth checking out (you can see why here), but don't be too disheartened if you can't get out to see them on Friday night as they'll also be performing at Temple on Saturday. They'll be supported by The Amazing Insurance Salesman on both nights making it a pretty hectic weekend for Djang San. Elsewhere on Friday, There's a Ningxia appraciation night at 2 Kolegas. Buyi and Li Dong are among the performers there and are sure to make that a night to remember. Over at Temple an intriguing project casts experimental outfit Whai with DJ Mickey Zhang for a mash-up. Meanwhile the annual Battle of the Bands goes ahead at Mako Livehouse.
On Saturday there's another exploration of world folk music with the latest in the Brand New You're Retro series at Temple, while Kick Ass play Hot Cat Club and Misandao provide a night of punk at What Bar.
Enjoy your weekend fix.
