Talking Pints: God Bless Saint Patrick and All Who Drink in His Honor

It's Paddy's Day weekend! Everyone's favorite patron saint gets a year older on Sunday and we all get silly drunk and toast his health while engaging in singalongs wearing a green wig. We've got a definitive roundup of places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day coming up at 8pm. Make sure you check it out so you know where all your Irish friends will be this weekend.

How long before Sanlitun residents start soaking noisy laowai along the Houjie? That's what's been happening to foreigners in Shanghai, according to a recent report in The Telegraph.

"Furious locals "dumped water" on some 200 noisy foreigners who [were] enjoying the nightlife on Yongkang Road, one of Shanghai's most popular bar streets, last weekend."

Spare a thought for the poor souls living in the residential building above Luga's and the DVD shop opposite Sanlitun Muse.

I mentioned a couple of weeks back how Fez had alerted us to their planned reopening date. This week, we received notice that Slow Boat Brewery Taproom will be moving their operations outdoors starting on Saturday, April 6. It should be nice and warm by then. Lovely weather to enjoy a craft beer in a sunny hutong.

We whooped aloud earlier this week at the news that Leeroy Thornhill, formerly of seminal rave outfit The Prodigy, was to spin a set here in April. We sighed audibly two days later when we were told the show had been tugged. We were left with a glimmer of hope at the news that the gig is being rescheduled for May.
