Talking Pints: Cow Girls Come to Beijing and 京A Unleash "The Egg"
Lots going on, and we all just want to get out into this lovely evening to find a cold pint/cocktail/glass/bottle of wine, so let's skip the niceties and get down to what you simply must know before you can enjoy your weekend, shall we?
Centro are preparing to stage a small series of racy nights. First, Aug 17 they'll have a naughty nurse-themed Annual Check-Up Party. Starting at 9pm they'll have "dancing nurses" dishing out half dozens of syringe shooters for RMB 180. Then on Sep 28 they'll be bringing the wild west to the CBD, with bar top dancers, singing and more shots.
京A were in touch earlier Friday to let us know about their plans for Aug 17 (aka the Beijinger Burger Festival Day). They're planning to unveil their new beer mobile, the Keg Egg. They'll be taking their beers streetside with their inaugural "Follow The Egg" event. Starting at Tavalin Bagels, you can join the egg en route past Serk, winding up at 4corners. The journey starts at midday so as they helpfully point out, there's plenty of time to get a few beers in and start the day before heading over to the final of the Burger Cup at BCIS.
Henry Yin, who runs Project O'Henry and formerly Caffe O'Henry, and his friend David Vichra, are collaborating with Jennifer Eden to expand Zap Urban Eatery into Zap: Cafe, Bar and Urban Eatery. The hours will be extended until midnight and Henry is developing a full bar. They want to make it a "people's bar" or community bar over in their Sanlitun location and on their website they're asking people to submit ideas for drink recipes. They are having their opening night as Zap: Cafe, Bar and Urban Eatery tonight.
Modernista has been closed for renovations for a while. They've been in touch to say that they'll be open again from Sep 4.
If you're quick, really quick, you could get along and spend a couple of hours in the company of that most affable of creatures, the Kiwi. Or if you don't like New Zealanders, you can just pretend to be happy to be there at their Kiwi Club meeting and enjoy two-for-one drinks between 6 and 8pm, tasty food and a raffle.
