Xiushui Nanjie: A Foodie’s Dream By Ritan Park

Over the past couple of years, a number of eateries have popped up along Xiushui Nanjie just off Jianguomen Waidajie, a stone’s throw south from Ritan Park. For a long time the street was just occupied by Nola and a couple of other establishments, however now it’s home to multiple places with everything from Guizhou fusion cuisine to a wine bistro, Cajun cuisine, a taproom and more!

Nola

As you might be able to guess from the name, Nola is a Cajun restaurant. On the menu, they’ve got classics like Po' Boys (RMB 75-82), Jambalaya (RMB 90-105), Gumbo (RMB 58) and more! For those who enjoy a drink, they also have numerous daily happy hour deals running from 11am-8pm. Boasting a large space across three floors, the crown jewel has to be their beautiful rooftop which is absolutely covered in greenery, creating a secluded garden vibe.

They’ve got a spacious dining area with the focal point being a large, square bar at the center and out front is a lovely terrace area that’s perfect for soaking in some rays with a draft beer or cocktail in hand.

Another spot that chose this area for its second location is Zha Zha Bistro. Specializing in Guizhou fusion cuisine here the menu is slightly different than their original Qianmen location with more of a healthy focus. Some must-try dishes are the Sour Soup Noodles (RMB 48), Pork Hock Rice (RMB 48), Pickled Chili Fish (RMB 78) and Southern Mashed Potatoes (RMB 46). To wash the food down with they’ve got a great selection of craft cocktails, beers and wines. Sediment Wine Bistro

As you can guess from the name Sediment is all about the wine, with a huge array of wines available. Seriously, they’ve got two whole walls full of wines to choose from! However, it isn’t just about the wine; Sediment also offers a delectable menu of Mediterranean cuisine with Asian twists. Some dishes to watch out for are the Duck Ragout Pasta (RMB 98), White/Black Miso Cod (RMB 138) and Love Me Tender (RMB 198) which features slow cooked beef tenderloin paired with a port and truffle jus and mashed potatoes. The restaurant has plenty of natural light courtesy of floor-to-ceiling windows at the back and naked brick walls give a touch of rustic charm.

Now with two branches in Beijing – they recently opened a second branch near Baitasi – Fufu opened this first branch at the end of 2022. A deli style eatery, Fufu serves up Mediterranean style dishes with a particular focus on Italian. They’ve got a variety of focaccia pizzas on the menu with toppings like Salami, Yunnan Chillies and Mozzarella (RMB 58/half, RMB 86/whole) and Eggplant, Courgettes, Mozzarella and Wild Rocket (RMB 52/half, RMB 78/whole) as well as pastas, main courses and starters. They’ve also got a deli counter with a variety of cheeses and cold cuts available, we’d recommend going for one of their Platters (RMB 118-RMB 168) for the best experience. Along with food they’ve got a lovely little wine cellar tucked away with a range of Mediterranean wines which are updated regularly.
