A Convenient Way to Eat Healthy: HealthiEatz
The HealthiEatz ad has been popping up on my Facebook feed for a while now and it seems that a number of my friends like them – or at least their Facebook page. It was making me question these "friends" a bit since HealthiEatz seems all to be about moderation and I am a lady of extremes. Their focus is on greens, which I can get behind, but also steaming vegetables, which never seems that delicious.
Unmerited biases aside though, HealthiEatz has an interesting thing going on and the pictures of their meals look pretty fine – salmon and grilled vegetables, fresh arugula and spinach, a side of quinoa. Plus, they have a stacked assortment of testimonials from local fitness pros.
They just launched in full this week and while there's no physical location, delivery is available daily (11am-10pm) through Sherpa's. The delivery zone is the greater CBD area (including Sanlitun and Shuangjing) for the moment. They do have their eyes set on Lido and Shunyi for the near future.
Designed for weight loss, the HealthiEatz focus is on low-calorie, low-carb and high-protein meals (i.e. the Paleo diet, for the most part). The menu encompasses a few different varieties of offerings broken into three categories of salads, mains and sides.
Plain salads are RMB 55 and there are three choices of green mixes: a spinach (with avocado and pine nuts), a mango (with arugula, spinach, olives and grilled walnuts), and an arugula (with cherry tomatoes, broccoli and sesame seeds).
There are three meat options, all grilled: chicken breast, salmon and lean beef. When you combine these with any of the salad mixes, prices bump up to RMB 93 (beef), RMB 85 (salmon) and RMB 70 (chicken).
Mains are these same choices of meats but paired with various vegetables. The price point for these seems a bit steep to me (RMB 126 for 250g of beef, RMB 108 for salmon or RMB 83 for chicken), especially given that it's delivery-only rather than sit-down dining. Also, expect the portion size to be small as this is the primary approach to moderating calorie intake and promoting weight loss (less calories eaten = less excess energy stored, pretty obvious I suppose).
That said, it seems potentially comparable to some of the other healthier options around town (e.g. Element Fresh) though with a more limited menu. The HealthiEatz website is fairly informative and gives the full nutritional details (calorie count, protein, fats, etc) for each menu item. They do have quinoa which I'm happy to see as it's such a delight and the only other place in town to get it ready-to-eat at the moment is Modo Urban Deli.
We have yet to place an order ourselves, but there's a number of Paleo-adherents in the office so I have no doubt that will soon happen. If you get to it first though, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

These look good ... I almost ordered the grilled beef arugula salad until I saw that it was 93 kuai + 30 for delivery ... making it a salad that would cost 123 kuai. Too rich for my blood (but perfect from a dietary / health perspective!)
Also note that it's hard to find the restaurant via Sherpa's ... it doesn't come up when you do the default location search (type in Healthi into the search bar and you'll get it)
