Talking Pints: Centro Turns 10 and Supporting Mao/Movember

Centro turns ten tonight (Nov 22). They'll have scantily-clad gals strutting their stuff to help mark the occasion as they celebrate a decade of cocktails, soirees and beautiful people with a soiree involving cocktails and beautiful people. Don't miss the Agent Provocateur Lingerie Catwalk. There'll also be a prize draw and a prize (of shoes) for the best dressed gal in the joint.

Other big events going down tonight (Nov 22) include the Funk Fever Movember Mustache Party at The Bar at Migas. They'll be dishing out free mussies on entry as well as providing the junk jiggling funk, disco and classic hip-hop that has become their signature. They're also selling T-shirts to raise money for the Movember charity (see below).

Movember, of course, raises funds and awareness for men's health. T-shirts cost RMB 100 and all proceeds go to the Movember charity and towards fighting testicular and prostate cancer. To get one, email bitesizebuddha@gmail.com with the amount of shirts you want, the colors and the sizes – they're available in light pink or turquoise, both men's and women's cuts and S, M, L, and additionally XL for men, and you can pick them up tonight or later in the week.

Still with Movember, or Maovember, The Irish Volunteer will host a Maovember Charity Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday (Nov 23). The action gets underway at 3pm. The IV gang had a surprise Hollywood player join in while they were having a game earlier this week. Check out Beijingboyce.com for more details about the Maovember campaign and their recent brush with a star.

Great Leap Brewing will be closing for renovations at their original hutong location between Dec 1 and Dec 24. The newer Chunxiu Lu location is still going great guns.

Another event worth checking out tonight (Nov 22) is the Jägermeister supported Localized at Lantern – "a new initiative aiming to unite Beijing’s underground music scene." It's the first in a series of upcoming "Localized" events, and they say to expect a spectrum of Beijing's most revered DJs for tonight's opener.

Other highlights this weekend:

  • Siif is hosting a Drum & Bass Party tonight (Nov 22) with DJs DJ Lucy Wang and Cyan.

  • The Heroes vs. Villains Disco Derby goes ahead at Mako Live House on Saturday night (Nov 23). You're encouraged to dress up like your favorite superhero/villain and get drunk on roller skates.
  • Still on Saturday night (Nov 23), The World of Suzie Wong Club hosts Red, a 1960s red light district inspired soiree with "Red cocktails, Red themed music and Red decorations."
  • Also on Saturday (Nov 23), Dada hosts Son of a Glitch Vol.2 with sets by Compact Dicks, Shack Up and Sapphire Slows.
