Yet Another Twenty-Something Killed in Luxury Car Crash

In what is becoming an almost regular occurrence here in Beijing, yet another twenty-something has wrecked his super car, this time on the Airport Expressway.

One passenger was killed and the driver and another passenger were injured in the one-car accident which the People's Daily reports was "so badly damaged that it was almost beyond recognition."

The 21-year-old driver, who was not identified, lost control of the Ferrari 458 at about 3:30am on Thursday, near the Beigao exit on the Expressway. Photos of the scene show the vehicle crushed like a soda can. All three occupants of the car were rushed to hospital with one person pronounced dead. Police said alcohol was not a factor, but one can presume given the state of the wreck that speed was.

The accident brought comparisons to the December 2012 crash in Beijing, also of a 458, that killed the driver and, well, caused a bit of a stir when the driver, who allegedly crashed the car during some sort of "high-speed sex game," was identified as the son of an influential politician.

It's also the latest a series of super car-totaling crashes around China. There was the Ferrari 458 crash in a tunnel, the Lamborghini Aventador that hit a public bus, and the Lamborghini that caught fire on the Fourth Ring Road. If you're really into this kind of thing, CarNewsChina.com has quite a few more of them.
