Capital M Literary Festival Features Authors, Filmmakers, Journalists
The Capital M Literary Festival just announced their 2014 program schedule, and as usual, it's replete with authors, filmmakers, and journalists with stories to tell from Beijing and beyond.
The festival opens on March 16 with Haitian journalist Dany Laferrière discussing his own experience "Wavering Between Homelands," in this case Haiti and Canada. This session is conducted in French.
Later that day cinematographer Christopher Doyle returns to the festival for "Words to Images: Translating Fiction to Film," where Doyle will discuss his work on some of China's top modern films, including Wong Kar-wai's "In The Mood for Love" and Chen Kaige's "Temptress Moon."
Making a return to the capital is former China correspondent for The New Yorker Evan Osnos, who will discuss "The Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth & Faith in the New China," based on his eight years in Beijing, in an event slated for March 22.
The festival runs March 16-23, with all events held at Capital M located at Qianmen Gate. The full schedule is available here. Tickets can be booked in advance via the restaurant and are advised for popular events such as those mentioned here as well as others.
