The Ice Bucket Challenge Comes to Beijing

Beijingers are dumping ice water on their heads.

No, it's not a hangover cure or an attempt to escape the heat of August. The Ice Bucket Challenge simply asks people to film themselves pouring a bucket of ice water over their head, and then challenging three more people to do the same, all to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), formerly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, "a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord," according to the ALS Association.

Kro Bauer, Marty Handley, and Zachary Lewison of Kro's Nest pizzeria decided to kick it off in Beijing:

One of the people the trio called out is none other than Dave Bob Gasper, the Beijinger 2014 Reader Bar and Club Awards Personality of the Year. Dave Bob responded promptly:

With a number of other local personalities having already been called out, it looks like this is just the start of some icy weather in Beijing.

On a related note, in an incident that would be ironic if it wasn't so tragic, Corey Griffin, a co-founder of the Ice Bucket Challenge, drowned last weekend off the coast of Massachusetts. He was 27 years old.

It's not just to raise awareness of ALS. Its main goal is to raise money for the research, and they've raised over $42 million.

I think it started as send $10 if you dumped the ice and $100 if you don't want to dump the ice on yourself.

So my question is did the guys/restaurants all send money?
