Silent, Steady and Beijing-Ready: Introducing MayAir’s Line of Air Purifiers
Beijing’s abysmal AQI levels certainly make many of us restless, but some people say they’re bound to lose just as much sleep by switching on a big rumbling, rattling air purifier throughout the night. But Aaron Voo Chee Fui says MayAir’s 301 model will quietly, but quickly, silence those naysayers.
“This one is very good for bedrooms because it has a silent mode, which makes it easier for when you want to sleep,” the 24-year-old technical sales engineer at MayAir – who hails from Sabah, Malaysia – says of his company’s signature 301 model, which runs at a gently faint 25 decibels, a level that experts say is literally whisper quiet, trumping the misconception that air purifiers are noisy, disruptive contraptions.
This is but one of the many benefits of MayAir’s state-of-the-art line of air purifiers. Below, Voo tells us more about the efficiency, convenience and functionality of these pollution-fighting devices.
What are the main models in the MayAir line of air purifiers?
Currently we’re pushing our 301. Not only is it quiet, but it’s optimal for an ordinary bedroom or small office room, because it effectively purifies the air in a 30-35 square meter area.
Other than that, we have the 401, which covers 55 square meters; our D-Breath 4, which covers 60 square meters; our D-Breath 5, which covers 120 square meters and is a big standalone device; and our D-Breath 6, which can purify the air in a 120 square meter area, and is mounted on the ceiling.
Is it common to have a purifier mounted on the ceiling? Tell us about the benefits.
It saves a lot of floor space. There are other companies that sell ceiling mounted models, but it’s not that common. We’ve gotten good feedback from clients who purchased this model – mostly companies with big office spaces.
Do any of your other models have similarly interesting, outside-of-the-box benefits?
We’re also preparing to market our line of D-Genius purifiers. They not only purify the air inside, but also introduce air from outdoors into a room, and purify that air as well. That helps reduce stuffiness, which can be a big drawback to using even the best purifiers on the market. We’re still working on the marketing for that line of filters, but we hope to introduce them to the public very soon as well.
For now, you’re focusing on your smaller 301 model, which is designed for average customers to use for their homes. Other than its quiet sleep mode and its 30 square-meter coverage area, what benefits does it have?
We worked to make it not only efficient, but to also make it look good. It has nice curves, almost like a car. It’s better to have that than an ugly, clunky box in the corner of your room. That’s one thing that our executives in Nanjing considered when they designed it.
More importantly, our design team also wanted to ensure that the 301 is easy to use. A lot of thought went into how to make its maintenance convenient for customers. When you need to change the filter, for instance, a yellow light shows up on its display screen. How long the filter lasts will depend on the situation – how heavy the pollution is, how often the filter is used, and so on. But normally the filter is good for four to six months. But you don’t have to worry about that, because as soon as it needs to be changed, the warning light comes on. It’s also easy to change the filter, you just need to open the side, remove it with one simple tug, and insert a new filter in the same place, which we can sell affordably to you. We thought it was important to make all of these aspects straightforward, because we not only want the customer to breathe cleaner air, we also want it to be convenient for them.
