This Week in Health and Fitness: Obentos' Updated Daily Deals, Get on Your Bike with Serk Cycling

This Week in Health and Fitness looks at the best fitness and health goings on in Beijing so you can live your #bestlife.

Japanese-inspired eatery Obentos has long been a favorite of ours here at This Week in Health and Fitness, and while we were sad to hear that they would be closing their original Central Park location on October 1 (due to that ever-present Beijing threat: rental increase), as always they have come out swinging with a refreshed selection of daily meal deals, available for delivery from their Grand Summit (Liangmaqiao) location. For example, celebrate meat-free Monday with discounts on a selection of their most popular vegetarian dishes (such as the pumpkin-tofu salad at RMB 44, previously RMB 52) or welcome in the weekend with Friday discounts on their seasonal specials, including a bento, salad, and abundance bowl, from RMB 44. During the weekend they are offering packages for two people, such as the "Bento Smoothie Package" (RMB 198), which includes a chicken and a beef bento, a portion of edamame, and two large smoothies. If that's not a hangover buster than we don't know what is.

They have expanded the delivery zone from Grand Summit to include the Guomao, Sanlitun, and Dongzhimen areas so former fans of the Central Park store (the Beijinger office included) can still get their fix.

Not that you'll really be in need of the gym after all that healthy grub, but if you're looking for a fun new way to up your exercise why not try getting on your bike with cycling experts Serk? Every Saturday (weather and AQI permitting) Serk gather a group of like-minded cyclists and head out to the many mountains surrounding Beijing. Don't worry if the only previous cycling experience you have is nipping round the corner to Jenny Lou's – the rides are split into beginner, intermediate and elite levels. They can also arrange bike rental if your rusty Flying Pigeon isn't up to the task.

Rides leave from Serk's workshop location in Yonghe Jiayuan, just around the corner from Ditan Park, around 7am and you will usually be back in town by noon-3pm, depending on ride length and location. Detailed address here.

It costs RMB 350 per person to take part in one of the rides, or RMB 50 if you provide your own transport. For more details and an up-to-date ride calendar, visit their website
